DIY pore strips!

I'm constantly looking for natural remedies because one, store products can be expensive and two, they can contain ingredients that are harmful for your skin!
So i came across DIY porestrips! I was really skeptical going into this but it worked awesome, so you should totally ditch the strips from the store!

the ingredients are very simple and something you would hopefully always have on hand: toilet paper, and an egg! and if you have an old eye shadow brush you wont miss, that will help when putting the egg on so you dont get your fingers all sticky! you can watch the video where i found it!

I honesly prefer these to the store bought strips because:
1. my face wasn't nearly as dry after using them
2. i was able to put the egg on the side of my nose where the strip wont always stick and misses trouble spots
3. ALL NATURAL! no harmful ingredients!
4. MUCH easier on the wallet ;)

After the new year Ashley and I are going to begin marking through out 2011 Bucket List! So i'll do my best to update regularly and post pictures of our adventure!

This semester I finally got to observe in the classroom! I went to elementary, middle, and high school and elementary was by far my favorite! So my NEW plan is to teach elementary music class along with a 4th and 5th grade choir! =)

I just finished up my semester and had to do my semesterly vocal juries where I sing for all the voice teachers at RU and I get a grade on my progress basically! I got A's all around, but the general comment was "beautiful sound, terrible posture!" SOOO today is DAY ONE of my improve my posture goal! I guess its my early new year's resolution!

Anywho! For the more interesting stuff I turned 21 in november! Some friends and I went out for drinks at Applebee's and just came back and had a fun girls night! here's some pics!

its been quite a while

Its been sooo long since i've updated so i decided to do one now and i'll try to keep it short! I moved back to reinhardt and we're now Reinhardt University which is very exciting! Its always a little rough starting out but i think i'm all back into the swing of things now!
Aliecia and I lost two of our roomies from last year Katie and Brooke, and on move in day we expected to meet our new roommate, but she never showed up! So we have a 4 person apartment all to ourselves! and i must say, its pretty nice! We love cooking and we've made a couple of meals that were camera worthy so here's a few pics!

our home made pizza! Ali rolled out the dough with a soup can because we didn't have a rolling pin and we were too cheap to buy one! haha but it turned out to be one of the most delicious pizzas i've ever eaten!

Our tacos =) they were super delicious! ali made a taco salad with hers but i had some good ole soft tacos!

Aside from cooking, we had a very exciting night tonight because it was the season 2 premiere of VAMPIRE DIARIES! eeeeep! if you haven't watched this show, you seriously need to! seriously. it. is. so.good.! i got into it this summer when i got my wisdom teeth taken out, and after finishing the entire season in 3 days, it is now one of my favorite shows on tv! (dexter, glee, and of course hannah montana are all on my top list!) anywho, the season premiere of VD definitely did not disapoint, so watch it! its thursdays at 8! =) you can also watch season 1 on cwtv.com!

Tea Time!

Happy Birthday Aliecia!

This weekend Ashley and I went to woodstock of Aliecia's 21st birthday! Friday when we got there we made cupcakes, cheese dip, bacon bacon dip, and went to pick up Rita's Ice (the best stuff in the world!) When we got back we got ready and went to eat at RuSan's Japanese Steak House! The next day was the highlight of the weekend though! We went to this place in woodstock called Tea Leaves in Thyme! It was basically a place to go and have an old fashioned tea party! and it was so cute!! If you're near woodstock or visiting, this is definitely a place you need to go visit!

for $14 you get unlimited tea in as many flavors you want, with a three-tiered tray of fruit, scones, sandwiches, and desserts! It was so delicious too!

on the top tier the top tier there was fresh watermelon, grapes, cantaloupe, and 3 types of scones: vanilla, poppy seed, and cherry! the second tier had little tea sandwiches, they were egg salad, cucumber, ham, and pimento and cheese! The last tier was the dessert tea and it came full of lemon bars, carrot cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, chocolate date bars, and chocolate mint brownies!

They had SO many different types of teas! and i didn't try one that I didn't like! Some of the ones we ordered were mango green tea, peach tea, creme brulee, vanilla spice, Chinese Lovers Dream, and Strawberry Kiwi! They brought each tea out in a different tea cup, but this one was my favorite!

They also had big hats, scarves, and gloves you could put on while you enjoyed your tea!
here's a few more pictures! =)

Irresistible peanut butter cookies

My boyfriend Wes leaves to go back to school on friday! So i wanted to make him something tasty to take back with him to the apartment! He requested peanut butter cookies so i found this recipe on the Jif website and they turned out SO good! Irresistible is right! I had to make myself stop eating them so there would be enough for him! ;) here's the recipe and i only made one change.. i used crunchy pb instead of creamy!

Ingredients:
3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 cup all vegetable shortening
1 1/4 firmly packed light brown sugar
3 tbsp milk
1 tbsp vanilla
1 egg
1 3/4 c all purpose flour
3/4 tsp salt
3/4 tsp soda

Directions:
preheat oven to 375 F
combine pb, shortening, sugar, milk and vanilla on medium
add the egg and beat until blended
add flour, soda, and salt
roll into balls and flatten with fork on baking sheet
bake for 6-7 mins, or just beginning to brown
makes 3-4 dozen cookies depending on size of cookie.
(mine made about 4 dozen)
